Discover the fascinating make-up of Japan — from bullet trains, neon lights, and mobile phones to ancient temples, kimonos and cherry blossoms. Japanese culture embraces the old and new, and emphasizes the importance of nature and the seasons. Discovery Atlas: Japan Revealed chronicles these facets, while introducing you to a host of residents including an apprentice geisha, a tuna fisherman, a tattoo artist, school girls and a robot-designing family. In their own ways, see these unique individuals demonstrate how the Japanese are masters of the future and guardians of the past.

Enchanting and Enlightening
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have been to Japan, studied Japanese for a time and have watched many travelog type videos on Japan but this is by far the best! I learned how a single tuna could be worth $8,000, about a civilization under the sea that has been recently discovered off Japan, about the life of a geisha, etc. We were enchanted from beginning to end. A fascinating culture and I highly recommended this enlightening DVD.
Discovery ATLAS Japan Revealed

This film is one of the best to introduce Japan and Japanese culture to non-Japanese people. I’ve been teaching Japanese culture over 7 years and figured out this film is the finest material to endorse what I try to explain about Japan.
Disappointing!

For the price I expect a lot more. But it was just average quality. I would shop around for a better value. And the length of the video is short for the price.
good for high school students

Good video for someone interested in Japanese culture. Could be used with a class of intermediate or high school students. Reasonable balance between historic sights and modern Japanese culture.
