Cruises are ruined all over the world by people suffering from motion sickness. People can suffer from travel sickness with varying degrees of severity, but it is certainly never an enjoyable experience. It can bring your holiday to and end pretty quickly and make you want to walk home. So what are the best ways to prevent you luxury cruises being ruined?
.) Position of your cabin. If you mention that you are a sufferer of travel sickness, the cruise agents should be able to sort you out a cabin close to the middle of the boat. This will minimise the amount of movement that your cabin experiences, even on gentle river cruises and will dramatically reduce the chances of feeling ill.
.) Eating ginger. Ginger has been a motion sickness preventive for many many years. There are a good number of contributing ingredients that work to intercept the signals from the brain to the stomach, stopping the natural gag-reflex action. You may however still feel a little nauseous as ginger doesn’t prevent this.
.) Walking about. It sounds like some that wouldn’t work but it has been proved it does. One contributing factor to sea sickness is the fact that the boats movement is alien to our brains. If you stay on your feet have a good walk around on the deck, you’ll begin to find you ’sea legs’ and your sensory system will start to learn the strange movement
.) Motion sickness tablets. This is generally considered the most power form of travel sickness reduction and for this reason it is the most popular. These tablets reduce the amount of signals sent to the brain from movement sensors around the body, having the effect of minimizing nausea. This is also why they can make you feel drowsy, so be careful taking them before swimming. To ensure that the chemicals are well circulated around the body when the ship leaves harbour, you should take your tablets at least 60 minutes before hand. This ensures that there is no window of time for your body to start reacting badly to the boats movement.
